What is the history and popularity of the app?

Chockadoc was created to help internet users find interesting, meaningful documentaries. The website currently boasts more than 2,000 documentaries that users can search and watch. The application has received some attention from users and reviewers. Most appreciate the diverse nature of its documentary selection. User can look for something lighthearted under the comedy category or a more serious video by exploring 9/11, politics or any of the many other categories.

What are the differences to other apps?

There are two main reasons that Chockadoc is appealing to internet users. The first is that the site is intended for documentaries only. Users looking for something informative, moving or educational can easily find it without wading through a sea of non-documentary videos. The application also maintains a very diverse category selection that caters to just about everyone. Users can find many categories, each with at least 10 and some with more than 100 documentaries available for viewing.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Chockadoc favors a warm brown and orange color scheme that gives the site a rich personality and welcoming atmosphere. Unlike some video viewing websites, Chockadoc maintains a neat and organized layout throughout. The user can see many images to entice them to check out documentaries, but the imagery never becomes overwhelming. All categories are listed along the right side, with sharing tools to the left side and the main attractions in rows at the center. This keeps the site user friendly and searchable.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors can search for and watch documentaries all they want to. To get full access to all features, visitors should click on the white “Register” link found at the top, right corner of the homepage. The brown header slides downward, revealing three login options. Users can connect with their Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus account. The user must connect to one of these accounts to sign up.

What does it cost to use the application?

Chockadoc is available to all users at no cost. There are no subscription fees and the user doesn’t have to pay anything to watch the many free documentaries found on the site. There are no purchase requirements to keep the account active, either. There is a shop tab that lets users browse documentaries that are for sale, but the user is not required to do anything. Documentaries in the shop start as low as $1.99 each.

Chockadoc is a great tool for anyone who wants to learn more about a subject or issue as well as anyone who is simply interested in expanding their mind and understanding of the world.
